What does it cost to install a cedar roof?

The answer has some variables, but at it’s core the cost is about $14-$18 per square foot.

This is just the install, and doesn’t take into account removal of old roofing materials, or repairs to the sheathing underneath.

Cedar roofs may be an investment, but they have such a unique look, can last an extremely long time, and have other major benefits!

  1. Take your home’s square footage
  2. Multiply by 1.12 (to account for the pitch)
  3. Multiply by $16

Example: For a 3,000 sq ft home: 3,000 × 1.12 × $16 = $57,600.

  • Common grade: Randomly cut from any section of a tree
  • Select grade: Better quality, will last long
  • 100% straight grain: Top quality, longest lasting, least likely to curl

Select grade Cedar Shingles will have more 'wavy' grain structure - still beautiful but may have small issues down the road.

This is where you need to be careful. Cutting corners can have a big impact down the road!
