Location: Fort Erie, Ontario
Service: Full Restoration & Preservative Treatment
Material: Natural Western Red Cedar
Result: Dramatic Before & After Transformation
The Challenge: Lake Erie’s Waterfront Toll
Waterfront properties along Lake Erie take a beating that inland roofs never see. Constant humidity off the lake, salt-laden wind, and heavy shade from mature trees create the perfect breeding ground for moss and algae. This Fort Erie home was a textbook case:
- Heavy Moss Coverage: Years of lake moisture had let moss blanket large sections of the roof, trapping water against the cedar around the clock.
- Algae Staining: Persistent dampness had left dark streaking across the shingles, aging the roof well beyond its years.
- Weakened Shingles: Constant saturation had softened sections of cedar, leaving them prone to splitting and curling.
The Solution: The JD Wood Revival Process
This was one of those projects where the before-and-after says it all.
- Deep Moss & Algae Removal: Our DeMoss process stripped away the buildup that was suffocating the wood, exposing healthy cedar underneath.
- Shingle-by-Shingle Repairs: Damaged and weakened shingles were replaced to restore a tight, water-shedding surface.
- Revival Oil Application: A deep-penetrating oil treatment brought the cedar back to its natural warm tone and rebuilt its resistance to lake-driven moisture.
The result speaks for itself – check out the before and after photos. What looked like a roof headed for replacement came back to life with restoration instead.
