Restoring a Landmark: Siding & Trim Revival at the Caledonia Mill

Perched along the Grand River, the Caledonia Mill is one of the few remaining riverfront mills in Ontario – a lasting symbol of the town’s industrial heritage. While it’s no longer operational as a mill, its legacy lives on as a historical and architectural landmark.

JD Wood Revival was proud to be part of its preservation, taking on the job of replacing the siding, trim, and eavestroughs – with an approach rooted in craftsmanship, care, and respect for the original structure.

Preserving Character While Protecting the Structure

The Caledonia Mill may not use its original materials throughout anymore, but its exterior profile and detailing still matter deeply. Our goal for the project was clear: restore its exterior surfaces to protect the building from the elements while maintaining its historic charm.

We completed:

  • Siding replacement using durable, weather-appropriate materials

  • Custom trim installation to match the mill’s original architectural style

  • New eavestroughs to improve water management while blending seamlessly with the structure

This wasn’t just about upgrading — it was about preserving a piece of Caledonia’s identity.
